Michelle Obama Thanks Department of Treasury

On December 7,2010 Michelle Obama visited the U.S. Department of Treasury to thank the employees for their loyal service. This is the first Lady's 20th agency visit to thank employees for their public service.

Two First Ladies Meet for the First Time

For the first time Michelle Obama and Sara Netanyahu, wife of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, met for tea in the Yellow Oval Room in the White House July 6,2011. Not only is this the first time the two first ladies have met, this is the first tea of its kind making it a really warm welcome to White House. Both showing off summer fashion at its best, Michelle Obama in her blue and black dress with bangles and Mrs. Netanyahu in her purple dress and gold heals.

The First Family Celebrates Independence Day With Special Guests

The President and Mrs. Obama welcomed military families to the White House for the 4th of July. The celebration honored troops and their families with a fantastic firework show and a live performances from Cedric The Entertainer, The Killers, and Brandi Carlile.

   

First Lady Michelle Obama's Independence Day Message in Support of Military

• Help ensure the places where you work, worship, and participate in community life connect their activities to addressing military families’ unique challenges; and

If you are the type of person who likes to watch fireworks via television (I'm not) you can watch the entire fireworks display on the National Mall via the White House Website.  It actually looks better on my computer monitor than it wold on TV. Gotta love the Mac. The music is nice too.

Michelle Obama and Dr. Jill Biden- "A Friendship Between Ladies"

Y'all are slipping. How could y'all have let us miss this halfway positive article over at Politico. Yes, now that Nia Malika Henderson hopped over to the Washington Post to replace Robin Givhan, Politico manages to give us something other than mindless anti-Michelle Obama prattle. The story is by Amie Parnes and its called "A Friendship Between Ladies"

Earlier this month, when Jill Biden celebrated her 59th birthday with staffers at an intimate gathering on an Eisenhower Executive Office Building balcony, Michelle Obama stopped by to join in on the fun.

The first lady gave the second lady a hug, and the two chatted over a cake adorned with flowers made of frosting and cooed over a Biden staffer’s newborn baby.

Those close to Obama say the moment speaks to the close relationship the first lady and Biden have forged since getting to know each other while stumping for their husbands on the campaign trail two summers ago. It’s a friendship fused through an only-you-know-how-it-feels bond that has continued to grow stronger since the two families moved to Washington, according to sources close to both women. The article highlights the fact that unlike previous administrations, the spouses of the President and the Vice President work together a great deal and even travel together. Remember they both went to Haiti together. They've done the baseball thing together. they both work on outreach and education related to their military families initiative.  Dr. Biden's granddaughter plays on the same team with weeMichelle Sasha Obama.One of my favorite photos from the campaign is of Michelle Obama and Dr. Jill campaigning together.

Its a nice feel good story from Politico... burn it to memory because who knows when we'll get another one of those out of that outfit.

ROAD TRIP! Michelle Obama Travels to Canada for the G20 Summit

YAY! Its summit time! That means lots of photos of First Lady Michelle Obama looking FLY next to the spouses of the leaders of the free world. That means we get a tour of something famous in Canada, a group photo, and  pictures from the receiving line.  Yeah, after almost two years of summits, we got this this summit coverage thingy down.  Here are the deets from the White House:

First Lady Michelle Obama will travel to Toronto, Canada to participate in the G20 Summit spousal program this weekend. On Saturday, Mrs. Obama will join the President at the Fairmont Royal York Hotel arrival which is pooled press. She will then attend a spousal program dinner which will be closed press. The G20 Summit spousal program will continue Sunday morning with a closed press brunch that will include Canadian women of distinction.

Welcome Canadian readers to Michelle Obama Watch. We love when the First Lady leaves the country. Its like we get to go too...except we don't.

We get you the photos, the video and First Lady Michelle Obama's remarks in their entirety.  Today First Lady Michelle Obama hosted Mrs Svetlana Medvedeva in DC today. And they both looked FAB! They rocked their own personal style. I have no idea what they are wearing, I'll leave that to our fashion correspondent... oops, we don't have one....YET!.
