Our first lady seems to exuding a certain exuberance this past week. 

Let's Move is in full swing, as evidenced by celebrities joining in to spread the message. Both the First Lady and Beyonce surprised various groups of students this week and participated in the Move Your Body dance (a song re-done by Beyonce for Lets Move).

The First Lady and Dr. Biden hosted a Mother’s Day event for military-connected mothers, grandmothers, spouses and other special guests, as a part of Military Spouses Appreciation Day in the East Room of the White House, May 6th.

On Saturday May 7th, the First Lady gave a commencement address at the University of Northern Iowa.

American Moms aired Sunday May 8th, on the Hallmark Channel - the First Lady and Dr. Biden are interviewed by Martha Stewart; this program is part of the ongoing effort to bring visibility to our Military Families.

Our First and Second Ladies - Michelle Obama and Dr. Jill Biden, launched Joining Forces last week.  Joining Forces is a national initiative that mobilizes all sectors of society to give our service members and their families the opportunities and support they have earned.

FLOTUS Honors the 2011 Military Child of the Year Award Recipients

 

Last week, First Lady Michelle Obama honored the 2011 Military Child of the Year Award recipients and discussed the impressive accomplishments of the honorees.

This week will be a busy week for Michelle Obama and Jill Biden as they will visit Denver on Wednesday and the Colorado Springs area Thursday in a show of support for the families of military personnel. The pair will also visit Camp LeJeune on Thursday and are scheduled to speak to thousands. 

The tour continues over four cities Wednesday and Thursday.

Much thanks to the First and Second Ladies for their efforts in this very important endeavor.
