@Ann yes I believe it is out of respect. However, I still stand firm that something needs to be done to help the living as well. Unfortunately Hadiya is not the first child to be murdered and she will not be the last. Again I ask, where is the petition for the living? Who will help them? Who will mourn the countless, faceless, nameless children murdered in the past?

You know, Aminah, I decided to take a trip down Michelle Obama Watch Memory Lane, and had a brief trawl through the 2008/2009 archives. It was good to go back and see your posts and read the comments given by way of response. Phew...at times it used to get a little heated in here! It reminded me of just how good it was to have MOW, especially in those heady, early days,

It was amazing the types of petty things that would get some people bent out of shape. I'm sure we remember the days when many a Ms. Angry was virulently anti bare arms showing, and as for those cardigans...hadn't the First Lady heard of those items of clothing called jackets....?

The First Lady was simply being herself. Many have cottoned on to that, now; the naysayers are very quiet, (Many, no doubt, have now got their own bare arms complemented by a cardie look going on, too.)

She looks beautiful in the photographs, and I can never get enough of seeing her with the President.

I wish them both a wonderful 2013.

I read the first commenter post on this page and felt the ugly spirit of the poster expressing his her right to the freedom of speech. The unfortunate side of the internet is that its a breeding ground for cowards whom express every thought rolling through their mind. I would love to get a look at the 'real' lives of who the 'so servery dissatisfieds of the world' are. I would love to see what kind of mother/father, sibling, adult child, friend, employee, and co-worker that they really are. For me this was a riveting speech because finally I was able to relate. (Working class)

The first lady is so inspiring. I love her intelligence, strength and ability to be who she is, even while in the limelight of the country. Loved this looked SHE IS absolutley STUNNING . Our FLOTUS IS THE BOMB AND SHE KNOWS IT.
