Aminah Today First Lady Michelle Obama took her Let's Move Initiative to River Terrace Elementary School in Washington, DC. Mrs Obama was joined by Olympians and Paralympians. To borrow a word from Gina, SQUEE!!! and Shani Davis was there. Just in case you don't know who Shani is, he's an Olympic gold medalist who was the first Black athlete to win a gold medal in an individual Winter Games sport and the fifth Black Winter Olympics medalist. He also has set a total of eight world records. Shani, just like yours truly and the First Lady, is also from the South Side of Chicago.
Yet I digress. Here are the First Lady's remarks courtesy of WhiteHouse.gov...

FLOTUS is wonderful.
A. Darton: So true, the lady is amazing in every way!!!
I think she looks downright foolish in most of those photos. Does she always have to mug for the camera like that? Most of the kids look bored and listless. It was nice to honor Shani Davis though.
She looks like she's having fun.
As a RTES staff member who was present at this event, I can tell you that the children were excited about the first lady's visit and extremely attentive as she and the Olympians shared their experiences. Bored and listless? Not ...
Everyone seemed excited. "lavaughanm" is just having sour grapes or is a plant to insert negatives in this blogs. The First Lady seemed surpirsed yet excited with the principal's and children's affirmation.
So glad to know that all these athletes -disabled and abled-- took time to meet with these children. Bless the Obamas for bringing such role models to these youngsters.
@ROBERT MATHIEU......Thank You. The children looked excited, and I will gladly take your word that they were excited over someone who was not there and someone who just like to spew out hot air. Fellow bloggers I have learn my lesson. Some people ( without mentioning any one name) comes up here for attention. Wonderful pictures and the First Lady looked beautiful and, she gave a lovely speech.
Lavaughanm just vists this site to get a rise out of us. Ignore her. She's like a petulant little child who isn't getting any attention. I tell you something, the haters must be getting desperate if they are having to resort websites such as these. It makes wonder how much they must be getting fed up of their own whinging on their hating websites. Pitiful !!
Anyways.........
Mrs Obama looks fantastic, She rocks that suit like a true strong hardworking powerful First Lady. I love her. Way to go, Mrs O !!!
A ray of sunshine, that's what FLOTUS is..
Well, LaVaughanm acknowledged elsewhere that she was proud to be the resident curmudgeon (proud to be miserable?! Each to his own, then...!) so we've been duly warned.
The First Lady is wonderful; a true Woman of Substance. It's no surprise that others who would wish to harness a little of that Michelle Magic are willing to run the risk of making themselves look "downright foolish" as LaVaughanm would have it, in order to do so, by trying in vain to copy her!
